Itihaas Brasserie Selfridges

Ever since Itihaas first graced Birmingham back in 2005, it has grown from a culinary restaurant of excitement and beauty to now being recognised as a preferred supplier of fine Asian cuisine to numerous five star venues.

Itihaas has naturally found a second home, in the buzzing Selfridges Food Hall. Clean and white seating and a stunning open kitchen provide the perfect surroundings for your food to be prepared. Exclusive to Selfridges Birmingham, Itihaas Brasserie’s menu is inspired from a rich pallet of experience spanning aromatic flavours of North-Western India, giving customers the chance to taste award winning Indian food in the heart of the city.

It’s a perfect marriage of Mumbai Street food, such as their Chicken Samosa or Gol Guppa, both known for their bold flavours yet light texture, through to stunning freshly prepared kebabs or mouth watering array of wraps, curries and sundries. If you still have room you can even go for a Gulab Jamon, one of the best you can find anywhere in the country.

Itihaas Brasserie Menu demonstrates sophistication like no other. They haven’t created your average Indian restaurant menu, where perhaps the dishes are unique but the order generally follows the same boring old template. Quite the contrary, Itihaas owners are masters of suspense and excitement with their dishes. Each recipe originates from a particular region, family secret or world renowned Indian chef.

The service is particularly 5* too. Our waiter was able to ask us a few questions about what we liked to eat and very quickly suggested a few options for us. I was taken straight back to my time at the Taj Mahal after tasting Itihaas mouth watering Agra Chicken samosas with their Garam masala spiced filling, complete with cumin peas and sweet onions and light crispy coat.

If you’re on the go you can choose from a selection of Middle Eastern Wraps with flatbreads, grilled chicken, lamb and a selection of accompaniments such as freshly prepared hummus or for a vegetarian option why not go for the delicious  citrus & deggi mirch marinated paneer cheese with pickled cucumber and red onion salad.

The choice is endless.
